Sunny Yellow Emery Dress

Tomorrow my oldest child is graduating from high school so I decided to get a haircut for the occasion. For a person who used to be extremely adventurous about my hair, I've been stuck with the same hairstyle for at least 15 years. So I decided to try out bangs. I came home feeling a little unsure but optimistic. Well, when my 7 year old saw me, he started to cry!!! He told me to take a shower so my hair would go back the way it was. You would've thought I'd shaved my head. Unbelievable.


Anyway, here is my new dress, and my "horrible" new haircut. LOL! My son actually carried on so long I had to send him to his room for awhile. It was very dark and rainy today, sorry if my photos are gloomy!


This is my second Emery Dress, the first is here. I really like the fit and will likely make more of these. Changes to the pattern: lengthened the bodice 1/2 inch, shortened the sleeves 1/2 inch. Shortened the skirt above the knee.


This is made from a cotton tablecloth I picked up in the Homegoods clearance section. 


Now I'm going to crawl under a rock and wait for my bangs to grow back.
Just kidding!! I don't think they look bad, just need to get used to them.

    I think the bangs look GREAT, and the dress is wonderful. You do such a nice job getting those gathers even. The whole look is really working for you, even if it isn't for your little fella.

    I really like the bangs! Especially swept to the side like you're wearing them here - looks great. :) Lovely dress too!

      Thanks! These kinds of changes take a few days to get used to. The shock is wearing off & I like them better today!

      Thank you Alison! He's super dramatic, our 4th child. He really got me good this time-- and made me panic a little. I'm feeling more confident about the bangs today!

    Your Emery dress is lovely, and I love your bangs. I loved your former hair, too! Sometimes you have to get a change. My eldest daughter was so excited when I got permanent waves, she was one year old! SaSa
